Do I have to complete South Dakota architect continuing education?
Yes, architects in South Dakota are required to complete 30-hours including 20-hours of Technical Subjects relating to Architecture and only 10-hours in professional management. (HSW courses will satisfy this requirement.)
Who notifies the state of my South Dakota architect continued education?
The licensee must notify the state at the time of renewal. Architects Training Institute provides printable certificates upon course completion.
I have extra South Dakota architect continuing education hours; can I apply them to the next renewal cycle?
Yes, you may carry over up to 15 hours of continued education.
I am licensed as a South Dakota Engineer as well as an Architect, how many hours of Continued Education must I complete?
Same for both.
Do I need to complete continuing education requirements for my AIA Membership?
YES, as an Architect member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), 18 learning unit hours are required per calendar year for membership renewal. Of these 18 hours, at least 12 hours must be in subjects designated as Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW).
