Course Reporting
AIA Members:
Once you complete a course, we will submit your certificate to the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Completion certificates are submitted every Tuesday. The AIA requires that all AIA continuing education providers report certificates within 10 business days of course completion.
Non-AIA Members:
Architects who are not members of AIA may or may not need to provide proof of course completion in order to renew their license. Requirements vary by state. However, the required continuing education hours must be completed prior to license renewal.

General Reporting FAQs
How long will you store my records?
We store your continuing education records for six years at no additional cost. Students are able to log in and print their certificates at any time.
The AIA recommends that all members keep their own records in case a credit is not posted.

Can I self-report any credits?
AIA members cannot self-report credits from an AIA continuing education provider, such as Architects Training Institute.
However, you may self-report learning activities that apply for an Applicable Learning Units (LU)|Elective credit designation. These educational activities must cover knowledge that can be applied toward your practice of architecture.
You may also be able to earn LU| Heath, Safety and Welfare (HSW) credit for programs offered by a government agency or for-credit courses completed through an accredited college or university.
How do I self-report credits to the AIA?
To self-report, simply submit a form using your AIA National Account. Once you log in, click on "Profile." Then select "Self-Reports" on the right side to complete your form.
When self-reporting eligible learning activities, you must include the following information:
- The date(s), title and length (in hours) of the learning activity
- A description of the activity
- A learning statement that describes the educational value of the activity
For LU|HSW credit, you must also include:
- A complete outline of the course that lists all topics provided by the agency or a NAAB-accredited college or university conducting the course
- A certificate of completion showing the name of the course provider and successful completion
When you are finished, click "Submit."
Non-AIA Member Reporting FAQs
Do I need to provide proof of course completion to my state?
It depends. Your state may or may not require you to submit documentation of completed courses for license renewal.
However, they may do so in the event of an audit. Because of this, we recommend that licensees keep their continuing education records.
