What are the Delaware continuing education requirements for architects?
Delaware architect continuing education requirements depend on whether it is your first renewal cycle.
If it is your first renewal cycle, you are required to complete one HSW CE unit per month of registration, beginning with the first full month following the month of issuance, through the end of the renewal cycle.
If it is not your first renewal cycle, you are required to complete 24 hours in HSW subjects during each full license renewal cycle. 12 hrs must be completed each calendar year, between January 1st and December 31st.
Who notifies Delaware of my completed architect continuing education?
Delaware does not require architects or continuing education providers notify the state of continuing education unless an audit is requested. Architects Training Institute will submit your course completions to the AIA and maintain your records for 6 years at no extra charge.
Do I need to complete continuing education requirements for my AIA membership?
Yes, as an Architect member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), 18 learning unit hours are required per calendar-year for membership renewal. Of these 18 hours, at least 12 hours must be in subjects designated as Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW).
Are AIA approved classes accepted to renew my Delaware architect license?
Yes, as long as they are in HSW subjects.
My Delaware architect registration has lapsed, how do I reinstate it?
If you do not complete renewal before the expiration date, your Architect license or Certificate of Authorization will expire.
You may file a late renewal application up to four months after the license deadline, a late fee will apply. You may not practice until your late renewal application has been approved and your license is deemed in active status: the late period is not a “grace period.”
If you fail to renew within four months, your license/certificate will terminate and you must apply to Delaware as a new applicant.
